EPISODE: 000009
AIR DATE: SUNDAY, 13/09/2026
Showcasing music from the Sunshine Coast Underground Music (SCUM) scene.
This is a special edition of SCUM on Sunday Morning Comind Down, featuring music from gigs at Solbar on the Sunshine Coast. Solbar was one of the Sunshine Coast's most iconic live-music venues - a true institution that shaped the region's creative scene for more than two decades. It first opened in Coolum in 2001, before relocating to Ocean Street in Maroochydore in 2011 where it became the beating heart of the Coast's nightlife.
After more than 20 years of gigs, open-mic nights, touring acts and community events, Solbar announced its permanent closure in February 2026, with its final show held that weekend.
Across its life, Solbar won multiple Queensland Music Awards, launched countless local artists, and provided a vital stage for national touring bands. Staff, musicians and punters describe it as more than a venue - it was a home, a family, and the centre of Sunshine Coast's creative community.
From its humble beginnings in Coolum to its legendary era on Ocean Street, Solbar leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable nights, emerging talent, and a music culture that shaped the Coast for a generation.
This is for SOLBAR.
