Blair Martin & Brody Hayes (Coordinators) with Co-hosts & Social Media Team: Lum, Salem, & Rat,

Wednesday

8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The world's longest continuously running diverse in gender & sexuality radio show. News, views, & music for/by the DiGS community.

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners & Custodians of the country on which we create Queer Radio, the Turrbal & Jagerah people of the Yugerah nation paying deepest respect to elders past, present and to come. We acknowledge that their sovereignty over this land & waters of and around this land were never ceded. This is stolen land and we acknowledge our privilege and benefit of privilege because of that historical theft. Always was - always will be theirs.

The award winning Queer Radio show is a magazine style show, dealing with specific topics and invited guests. Queer Radio is male-oriented, but not exclusive. Presenting relevant music, guests, news, views and interviews - as well as discussions of sex, sexuality and life in general, relevant to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Queer Intersex Pansexual-Polyamorous Asexual Non-Binary & 2Spirits / Diverse in Gender & Sexuality (DiGS) community

Queer Radio (along with Dykes On Mykes) turns 34 in 2026 - the longest continuously running DiGS radio program in the world. Queer Radio will continue to offer a voice for the DiGS community in Brisbane and South East Qld with news, views, info and music that is queer or queer affirming.  Queer Radio Brisbane can be an important part of your queer life - whether you are one of the fabulous rainbow peeps or one of our much loved straight allies.

Access the show live on 4ZZZ 102.1FM or 4ZZZ DAB/DAB+ in Brisbane, via the Community Radio Plus app, live web streaming from the 4ZZZ website, or on-demand from this page for up to six weeks from the date of broadcast.

Our story

Since 1978 4ZZZ has continually presented programs in support of the broader queer identifying community. On 30th September 1992 the weekly lesbian and gay program "Gay Waves" changed in both format and name. It became a cycle every three weeks (Wednesdays 6-9pm) of "Queer Radio" for men, "Queer Radio" for LGBT's and "The Lesbian Show" by and for women. The Queer Radio shows were to be magazine style, dealing with specific topics and invited guests. The Lesbian Show changed its name to Dykes On Mykes in the mid-90's. 4ZZZ allocated each show a weekly 2 hour slot in August 2002.

Visit www.queerradio.org for more history on Queer Radio, information, and an easily accessible set of vital links to queer sites and support curated by former Queer Radio co-ordinator John Frame, covering the period from the mid - late 1990s to 2009 when John "retired".

We live blog/update on FB & IG social media platforms during our show with links to our guests, discussion topics, photos from the studio and events plus the music videos of the tunes we play.

In November 2013, Queer Radio was both surprised and deeply humbled to be chosen by an independent panel of judges to win the CAN Awards 2013 Media Award. The Community Action Network Awards were first introduced in 1997 to recognize achievement that is positive and makes a difference in the inner city areas of Brisbane. Coordinated by the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, the award citation reads "For excellence in journalism/social media which promotes the social inclusion and equality for all".

At the 53rd Annual Queen's Birthday Ball & Community Awards, presented by the Brisbane Pride Festival on June 8th 2014, Blair Martin was given the Lifetime Achievment Award for his 20 plus years of dedication, commitment and passion in serving the Brisbane LGBTQIPA /DiGS Community, and has been nominated in the Media Personality category of those awards from 2014 to 2019

04.02.26

It's been a month!

QUEERIE: One month in - how's 2026 been (so far)?

Some say January is a year in itself, so - have you been strung out, jumping through hoops already or using those hoops to hula-hoop your way through the chaos?

Music is the best passenger/companion for any journey, especially the one we are all going on in 2026. On the show tonight we've got music and musicians!

Jessica McPherson-Riley of the Naarm/Melbourne band HOMEWARD and their first single "Before I Found You" has a yarn with Blair about her already incredibly diverse musical career.

Dustin, Angie, and Dane from local noisemakers NORTHERN LIGHTS pop in to chat about their latest single "Looking Down"

And we finish off our two part special (thanks to Ez from Tranzmission on 4ZZZ) of them in conversation with FN/NB academic Professor Sandy O'Sullivan
