Many Australians are aware of America’s famous Native American names like Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and Geronimo to name a few.  However, how many of our First Nation celebrated figures do we really know like David Unaipon? He’s on our $50 note.
4zzz’s Eliot Rifkin chatted with Karen Hughes, an Associate Professor in Indigenous Studies and expert in Ngarrindjeri history, affiliated with Swinburne University in Victoria. Dr Hughes has been researching the life of David Unaipon, the celebrated Indigenous Australian.

Here's a link to David Unaipon's ‘Legendary Tales of the Australian Aborigines’, the 1st book-length manuscript published by an Aboriginal Australian author and the story behind it. It was initially published under the name William Ramsay Smith which was an act of literary theft.
