JORDACHE GAGE

Dwelling is a new body of work by Brisbane-based artist Jordache Gage exploring the instability of home through painting, photography and installation. Developed within a house awaiting demolition, the project draws on personal memory, post-colonial and feminist frameworks that understand the domestic as a site of tension and hidden structures. Gage reimagines the interior as both a psychological and physical space, where fragmentation and instability reflect broader conditions shaped by power and control. In this context, the work speaks to the underlying structures that enable domestic violence and coercive control, revealing how such dynamics are embedded within everyday environments. Dwelling captures a site in transition, where home is revealed as contingent, fractured and constantly in flux.
